Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Anthony showed improvements to almost all areas of his game at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. Offensively, he hit with good balance from an athletic stance, and was aggressive to attack his pitch. He was direct with the barrel to contact and flashed good pop. At the hot corner, he made plays with rhythm and sure hands. He moved efficiently with his angles to get into his fielding position on-time and threw with good arm stroke to 1B. On the mound, he threw a FB from 79-81, spun a CB from 64-68, and showed a CH with tail from 73-75. He gathered over the rubber to initiate his delivery and had clean arm action to throw mix his 3 pitches for strikes. In all - at 6'/200 lbs, Anthony has a phenomenal baseball frame to continue adding consistency too for next level play.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Anthony showed a very aggressive and consistent approach at his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he was on-time to get to his hitting position with activated hands and ripped an RBI double in one of his AB's. He flashed good bat speed and barrel accuracy and pressured the defense in 5 of his 8 AB's. Defensively at the hot corner, he worked his feet efficiently pre-pitch and on his approach to field in front with sure hands. He displayed a decent transfer and generated momentum to throw with a clean arm stroke. In all - Anthony continues to show his projection both defensively and offensively against strong competition.

10/01/2014 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Anthony continues to prove himself as a reliable MIF. Defensively, he takes a good first step after reading the ball well off the bat. He moves well pre-pitch and fields with soft/sure hands. He is quick with his transfer and has good athleticism to move his feet under his body to help the arm strength. Offensively, he has a strong lower half and utilizes rhythm to generate bat speed. He is quiet with his setup and flashes pull side power. Landing softer on his front foot and extending through contact will increase hit ability. All in all - Anthony is an exciting player that has leadership qualities and projects in the infield at the next level.

12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Anthony is a solid 3B that has a bright future in the game. He was one of the youngest players at the Recruiting Classic but he still stood out as a very good player at this event. In the infield he has quick feet, soft hands, and works through the ball well. He is aggressive to the ball and has good body control. His exchange is quick and he makes accurate throws across the diamond. Developing more pre pitch actions and being more rhythmic throughout the process will help his already good defensive grade to improve. At the plate Anthony has a good load, strong balance, and uses his lower half well. His rhythm and timing are solid and he makes consistent contact. He has a nice opposite field approach and is able to spray the ball to all fields. Translating his success to game situations consistently will help him take the next step in his game. Though Anthony performed very well at this event, he also played with a sore back that hampered him somewhat. He is an exciting young player, and we are looking forward to watching him improve and progress these next few years.

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Anthony is a very talented player with a big upside. He is a gamer who knows where to be at all times on the field, showing a level of comfort that is advanced for his age. Defensively he has good arm strength/accuracy, soft/sure hands, fluid/active footwork and always shows an athletic fielding position. He is very agile for his size and shows a lot of range and feel for the position. (During gameplay, he went back on a pop fly out of the infield and got there with ease). He should get a feel for playing all over the infield as he will be able to play multiple positions given his ability. On the mound he displayed good arm action, control, and delivery. He stays in-line showing a controlled balance point and command of three pitches. He needs to lengthen the stride to get more drive from the legs and finish pitches with extension and follow through (he is too upright). At the plate Anthony has quick hands, his lower half works, he shows good bat speed, and proper timing which makes his swing consistent and hard. He can improve by developing a better load, keeping his balance centered and finishing the swing a little more. He will certainly be a player to watch as he gets older, as he is only entering his freshman year this fall.

03/10/2013 - College PREP - Hightstown, NJ Anthony is a young 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Anthony has soft hands, playable feet, and he fields out front. He moves well laterally, makes plays, and throws with a long arm action across the diamond. Anthony will need to play through the ball, loosen his actions, and work on his arm action for abilities to get better. On the mound, Anthony has a long / quick arm action, a simple delivery, and he keeps his eyes on target. He keeps his shoulders level and has good direction toward home. More lower body and keeping his front side closed will help mound effectiveness improve. Offensively, Anthony has a square / athletic set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He makes square contact, swings a level stick, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Looser actions and more direct hands to the ball should help offensive numbers rise.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
