Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2BPosition Projection

02/16/2014 - National Tryout - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Anthony showed strictly as a 2B that swings from the left hand side. Offensively, he showed his consistent hit ability with a middle approach. He stays compact and direct with the barrel, attacking the zone aggressively. Defensively, he fielded in front with soft/sure hands. He utilized his feet to throw and followed well. A long toss program will continue to increase his arm strength over the remaining two years of high school ball. We look forward to tracking Anthony's progress in preparation for next level play.

12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Anthony continues to show as a 2B/OF at the event but currently projects slightly better at 2B for the next level. He plays with high energy and utilizes his quick feet well as eh displays range in the MIF. Hands are smooth / clean as he makes the plays. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles but needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through and continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he shows an open / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive / level path. He makes consistent contact with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with 4 BB as he displays a solid eye at the plate. He has a feel for the bunting game and will lay it down for a hit. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard and is a smart ball player.

11/17/2013 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Anthony is a 2-way player who has a solid all-around skill-set. Defensively at 2B, he shows good energy and plus footwork with the ability to make the play to his right and left. He works around the ground ball and plays through it toward his target well. In the OF, he is aggressive and takes good routes to get into position behind the fly-ball. He has a clean exchange and fires accurate throws into his target. At the plate, this lefty shows an athletic stance with a simple approach. He delivers the barrel with quick hands and squares it up consistently. More aggressiveness and more backside lower 1/2 will help to increase power at the plate. Anthony should have success on the diamond this upcoming season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
