Official Scouting Report

09/14/2013 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18) Anthony is a very athletic young hitter that has a very bright upside. He is a solid hitter that will be a very good top of the order kind of guy, he is a solid contact hitter with the ability to hit the baseball to all fields consistently. Also Anthony shows a mechanically sound swing, with the understanding of the swing and adjustments that need to be made which will allow him to keep developing as a good young hitter. The one thing that Anthony needs to focus on is his front side, he tends to hit on a soft front side, meaning his front leg has a bend in it at contact. If he can let the front side stay strong he will see more power in the swing, and the ability to create more torque in the swing.

12/27/2012 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Vero Beach Anthony continues to show he is a solid player in the infield. Despite suffering a minor injury at the event, he played well defensively wherever we put him (SS, 3B, and OF) and overall, he showed tool grade improvements in 3 areas since his first workout with us this summer. As an IF, he showed good range and footwork with sure hands. His fielding position was athletic with his hands out in front. He showed a good feel for the game and was coachable regarding his adjustments. He can continue to focus on working from the ground up as well as shortening his arm action. In the OF, Anthony shows good footwork and angles to the ball, also showing a good feel for the position. Arm strength is an area he can continue to build on. At the plate, Anthony shows a good load, level swing path and the ability to use the entire field. He will need to focus on getting more use from his lower half to increase power numbers. Overall, Anthony is a great kid who stays positive and is a good teammate. He made very big plays on defense and showed his toughness by playing through a nagging injury.

07/25/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Greenville, SC Anthony is a 2-way player who plays OF and SS. In the OF, Anthony has sure hands, active feet, and he uses 2 hands. He has a quick exchange, and throws with a long / loose arm with accuracy to his target. At SS, Anthony has sure hands, fluid feet, and he fields in a low / athletic position. He presents his glove well, plays through, and throws with some carry to his target. At the plate, Anthony has an athletic set-up, a short stride, and he makes square contact. He has a level swing, a line drive approach, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Play lower
2. Long toss
Infield
1. Field out in front
2. Don't sling ball
Offense
1. Let ball travel
2. Bat speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
