Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

10/03/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Spokane, WA Anthony is a physical 2023 3B/RHP. Defensively, he showed active foot work and good flexibility getting in a low fielding position. He was accurate on his throws and was able to change arm slots when needed. Offensively, Anthony utilizes an open stance with a long stride to create fast bat speed. He makes hard contact to the pull side and drove the ball in the gap. On the mound, his exhibited good mechanics with good control of his off speed pitches. Anthony is a solid player and will contribute to any team he is on whether that be on the mound of in the infield.

10/04/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Spokane, WA Anthony continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 71 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/28/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Spokane, WA Anthony is an athletic 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Anthony shows active footwork and moves well to his glove side. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Making a quicker exchange can help Anthony improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He generates explosive bat speed through the zone and hits against a strong front side, leading to loud contact and gap to gap power. Anthony can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Anthony shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66mph. Curveball sits at 57mph with 11-5 break. Slider sits at 59mph with good movement. Changeup sits at 61mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Anthony improve as a pitcher. Overall, Anthony is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
