07/28/2014 - National Tryout - Gaffney, SC
Anthony continues to progress his skills on the diamond. Defensively, he actively works into an athletic fielding position and plays through the ball from right to left. He presents his glove and fields the ball out in front. At the plate, this RHH has an aggressive approach as he's looking to take a hack. He connects and drives the ball on a line. More lower 1/2 drive will help to increase power at the plate. Only a 2018 grad - Anthony has skills with a lot of time to work on his game.
07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City
Anthony had a good showing at Pirate City. He is very strong defensively and in the infield he has sure hands, playable range, and active feet. He plays thru the ball well and makes accurate throws. He knows the SS position and knows his role and where he needs to be at all times. He is a good communicator with a comfortable feel for the position. At the plate Anthony has a squared setup, good load, short stride, and he uses his lower half well. He stays balanced with his swing and delivers the barrel accurately and with some bat speed. He has an aggressive approach at the plate and was able to make consistent contact. Anthony also ran his best 60 yard dash for us and we expect him to be under 8 seconds soon. Only in 8th grade now, Anthony is advanced for his age--he asks good questions, takes in coaching well, and shows great character and an ability to make adjustments. He will be a player to watch as he gets older.

Anthony is an athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the INF, Anthony has sure hands, active footwork, and he fields in a low / square position. He plays through the ball, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy to his target while showing very good fundamentals. In the OF, Anthony shows clean hands and he plays through the ball. Offensively, Anthony has an open stance, a short stride, and good balance. He showed better in the infield, but has potential at both positions. He has fast bat speed, a line drive swing, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Abilities can improve with work on the following.
1. Work to get hands more out front and not field too deep
1. Do not drift to ball
2. Work on footwork on throws
3. Keep elbow higher on throws
1. Square up feet
