Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

06/21/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Anthony continues to show as an OF/RHP with steady play in his baseball abilities. In the OF, he utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground and makes the routine plays. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work on reading balls better off the bat and work and getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He will put the ball in play and makes consistent contact. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get his stride foot down to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 3 for 11. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-75 mph with arm side run. Slider displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained, develops better off speed stuff, and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/13/2014 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Anthony is a young 2-way player (OF/RHP). In the OF, he takes good routes/angles as he works into position behind the ball. He catches the fly-ball at its highest point, has a clean exchange to throw and makes accurate throws into his target. Strengthening his arm and quickening his exchange will aid in his development in the OF. At the plate, he shows a square setup with a good base. He waits for his pitch and drives the barrel on a level path. Extension through contact will help to increase power at the plate. On the mound, Anthony has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He works the ball to both sides of the plate with his FB topping out at 73 mph. Finishing his pitches with extension on the follow through will help to improve his effectiveness on the mound. A 2016 grad - Anthony has skills and time to continue to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
