07/29/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Rios continues to a lot of improvements in his baseball abilities, both offensively and defensively with a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, he showed his best pop time to date at 1.95 with accuracy and on line carry on his throws as he displays outstanding arm strength. Feet work well in line to his target, through a quick, clean exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. At the event, he drew 6 BB as displays a great eye and patient approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very vocal and shows great leadership abilities behind the dish. He has a great attitude and love for the game as he will get a ton of looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

12/07/2014 - College PREP - McCook (Chicago), IL Anthony is a big, thick C/1B that will graduate in 2016 with a ton of potential at both positions. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times shows a range of 2.03-2.09 with accuracy and carry on his throws as he displays outstanding arm strength. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At 1B, defensive grade are well above average. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands / feet work together through a low approach as he attacks balls and plays through well. Glove action is solid as he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out the dirt, saving throw. Defensive grade will continue to improve as increases foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick / aggressive as he generates bat speed and works through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields, displaying gap to gap power. With 2 years to further develop, Anthony has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
