02/17/2013 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Anthony is a 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the hill, Anthony has a loose arm action, eyes on target, and he works to his balance point well. He has good glove side lead, level shoulders, and he lands in a square position. A more consistent release point and more lower 1/2 will help mound effectiveness improve. At 3B, Anthony has active feet, sure hands, and he fields in a low position. He makes plays consistently, his exchange is clean, and he delivers the ball with average strength to his target. Not stabbing, more sure actions, and a stronger arm will improve abilities at 3B. At the plate, Anthony has an open set-up, a simple swing, and quiet actions. He makes contact, can spray to all fields, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Hitting numbers can rise if Anthony can level off his swing and quicken his bat speed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
