09/10/2023 - National Showcase - Thousand Oaks, CA Anthony continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off a soft chest. Receiving / blockings skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in the 2.03 range with accuracy / carry (86 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Offensively, he continues to shine through an athletic squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation through a balanced approach. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight from backside into a firm front side.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Anthony Rodriguez is a 2025 catching prospect from Southern California. Playing at Sierra Canyon High School in one of the best high school leagues in the state and for Wow Factor West where he has been a top performer. With an athletic frame that continues to add strength Rodriguez is mobile and athletic behind the plate as a receiver where his soft left hand and strong wrist allow him to handle velocity along with spin. Adept at catching college level velocity, already Rodriguez trains by catching bullpens for local professional pitchers during the off-season. His arm is a true tool behind the plate with consistent 1.9 workout pop times and low to sub 2.0 in game pop times where his throws show online carry with accuracy. A potential impact defender behind the plate makes Rodriguez a top name for college programs to follow in the 2025 class. But he is not just a defensive weapon his balanced RH swing with present strength and feel to drive the baseball to the pull side shows a potential above average hit and above average power tool to profile as high performing offensive player at a premium defensive position.

08/22/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Thousand Oaks, CA Anthony is a C prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame athletic build with some present strength to the build and plenty of remaining room to fill out. Behind the dish, he starts with efficient footwork and works with good direction to second base as he replaces his feet well. Quiet actions enable him to track pitches and beat balls to spot. Creates good blocking angles with his chin tucked. Clean transfer into an over-the-top arm slot and has a quick release. Made accurate/on-line throws to second base with an arm velocity up to 79mph and a best pop time of 2.36 seconds. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance. Simple and balanced swing with good rotation to contact point. Made consistent contact to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 75mph during BP. 4 years of continued growth and development will bode well for his opportunities to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
