Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Anthony continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 50-54 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Anthony is a young, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Anthony has quick feet, agile movements, and he fields in a low/athletic position. He moves with agility to the ball, makes plays consistently, and throws with accuracy from a quick arm action. On the mound, Anthony is aggressive in the zone, he keeps his eyes on target, and is around the plate with his pitches. At the plate, Anthony has a tall set-up, good balance, and a proper load. He has good pitch selection, can spray to all fields, and uses his lower body. Anthony can get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
