06/10/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Anthony is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (91 mph) with impressive pop times of 1.81. Offensively, Connor continues to shine with pro level hitting / power potential. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage - resulting in a barrel explosion with the ball screaming off of his barrel. Anthony has the makings of a special type player and will be a solid 2018 draft guy.

10/15/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South Anthony is a desired commodity: a switch-hitting catcher with power from both sides of the plate. His swing is similar both ways with an aggressive approach and good acceleration through contact. The ball jumps off his bat with loft power to the pull side both right and left-handed. He appears relaxed and confident in the box. Defensively, Anthony uses a quick transfer and good arm strength to get the ball down to 2B as low as 1.86. He has a strong lower half that should make him durable enough to catch long seasons behind the plate. He is good on balls in the dirt and will benefit from some refinements to his receiving. Overall, Anthony looks to be a middle-of-the-order bat at a premium position.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
