06/29/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Troy (Albany), NY Anthony has again made improvements in his game. Exchange is quick as pop times are now at 2.07. Foot speed has improved as he now runs a 7.03 60 yard dash. With the bat, he tracks the ball into the zone and waits for his pitch. Swing is level as he barrels it up and drives it, using the whole field. Anthony is a hard working catcher who has a plus makeup and will find success on the diamond.

06/30/2014 - College PREP - Troy (Albany), NY This backstop continues to work hard on his game. He sits in with flexion and sticks the pitches, framing well. Ball is quick from glove to hand as he puts throws on the bag in the low 2's. At the plate, he has an aggressive approach as he is looking to take a hack. He swings on a level path and drives the ball. More lower 1/2 drive will help to increase power at the plate.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Vero Beach (Ages 14-18) Anthony only showed as a catcher at the event but has improved his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.08. Feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show in the 2.08-2.26 range with accuracy on his throw. Time will continue to drop as he continues to build more arm strength. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to improve / develop. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact but needs to increase bat speed to continue to improve hitting grade. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker with a great attitude.

07/17/2012 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 3 Anthony Silvestri is a 2016 graduate who catches. Behind the dish Anthony is a tall catcher with firm hands when receiving and he sets up with a wide base. He has quick footwork and centers the ball and keeps his head down when blocking. At the plate Anthony takes a short stride and keeps his hands back with his load. He uses his lower half well and has average bat speed for his age. He made consistent contact during the camp and has a good approach at the plate. Anthony worked hard all week and was able to make adjustments. He is a nice player and will only get better with more experience.

08/02/2011 - Vero Beach Pro Select Training and Competition - 2011 (Pre-HS) Anthony is a 2016 graduate who plays Catcher. His arm angle is close to over the top but it will benefit him as a catcher to get it all the way up. Anthony's arm action is long but he is accurate to his target. Long toss will help with his arm strength and the slight adjustment to his arm angle will enhance carry on his throws. Behind the plate Anthony displayed an athletic/stable setup and sure/firm hands. He needs to work on blocking the ball, specifically not trying to pick the ball. At the plate he showed an athletic setup, short stride and centered balance. As Anthony gets older he will develop strength which will benefit him greatly but in the meantime he needs to us his lower half more, eliminate the elbow drag and adjust his timing (he is late). If Anthony puts the work into throwing and makes the few small adjustments at the plate there is no reason why he can not have a successful career in baseball.

05/29/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Troy (Albany), NY Anthony is a young catcher with firm hands and playable feet. He has quiet actions, he lets the ball travel well, and catches it cleanly. Anthony gains ground, his exchange is quick, and his throws are online to his target. He has a long arm action with good consistency to 2nd base. Offensively, Anthony has a crouched stance, a short stride, and good balance. He has a level swing plane and he puts the ball in play. Offensive and defensive abilities can further improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Blocking
2. Widen base
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Quicken bat
2. Let travel
3. Rhythm / Timing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
