Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

10/04/2015 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Anthony is a 2-way player that projects in the OF. Defensively, he is aggressive to the ball while maintaining solid body control. On the mound, he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with good glove side lead and stable head. As he develops arm strength and a feel for secondary pitches, his stock both defensively and on the mound will increase. At the plate, Anthony squares himself in the box with a soft front foot and solid bat speed. He is aggressive to pitches in the zone and will see more pop with use of his lower 1/2 and looser hands. Overall, Anthony has some tools that will aid him in next level ball.

10/05/2014 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Anthony showed improvement in almost every facet of his game in his most recent Baseball Factory outing. His 60-time dropped to 7.53 and his H-1B time to 4.79. On the mound, his velo topped out at 69 spinning off a low 50's bender with 11/5 action. He shows repeatable stuff with his glove and eyes leading to his target. Tapping into more of his lower 1/2 and developing arm strength will take Anthony's pitching abilities to the next level. Defensively, he attacks the ball with the ability to cover a solid amount of ground. At the plate, he has improved his BS and BA. He also showed his ability to use his lower half to use all fields. Driving the ball deep into the gaps will be the result when gaining strength and adjusting timing. Anthony, now a junior, will impress coaches in his upcoming season.

11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City Anthony is a young RHP/OF that will graduate in 2016. In the OF, feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls but needs to work on getting behind balls to play through to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to improve footwork to throw and build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Spiaggia shows a balanced approach with rhythm. He loads well with hands works through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power numbers improving at the plate as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 53-56 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Changeup is straight as he slows his arm speed on his off speed pitches, tipping off pitch to hitters. Mental makeup is a plus as he listens well, is very coachable, and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 4 years to further develop, Anthony has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
