07/07/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Anthony continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting/power potential have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (72 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power displaying best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Fastball showed a range of 65-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 4 years to further develop, Anthony has time and room to progress his game.

05/14/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Poughkeepsie, NY Anthony is a tall, 1B/RHP. Defensively at 1B, he's efficient on his feet as he attacks the GB. He fields the ball in a square position and makes accurate throws to his target. On the mound, this righty has a good frame and delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot. He has a strong feel for his breaking ball and finishes square towards home plate. With the stick, Anthony shows a balanced setup and gets back into a load. He swings on a direct path through the zone as he creates hard contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
