02/20/2022 - All-In Membership - San Bernardino, CA Antonio is a young, thin, two-way player, who plays shortstop and right hand pitcher. Defensively, Antonio moves well to the ball, through playable hands and feet. He keeps the ball in front of his body, funnels well, and throws with accuracy to his target. Antonio will need to quicken footwork, field further out in front of his body, and add arm strength in order for defensive skills to improve. On the mound, Antonio has a compact delivery delivery, good balance, and a clean arm circle. He has a simple delivery, he gets good extension on his pitches, and he finishes in a square position towards home plate. If Antonio can use more of his lower body, and gain more front arm extension, abilities on the mound will improve. Offensively, Antonio stands in the box with a crouch stance, he takes his square stride toward the pitcher, and he loads hands back well. He has a direct/level swing plane, he makes square contact, and he shows the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Hitting numbers can spike if Antonio can get more front more extension, tap in to more lower half, and add bat speed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
