07/27/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Antonio is 2016 graduate who plays SS/2B. He has short arm action but he really needs to be long tossing as much as possible for arm strength. As a fielder Antonio always shows us his clean/soft hands, efficient footwork and athleticism. He needs to continue polishing his fundamentals. At the plate Antonio has a balanced/athletic set-up, hands back load, stable balance through swing, timing is good, he has fluid rhythm and his swing path is on-plane. As he matures Antonio will naturally hit the ball harder. Antonio is a good kid who works hard and he is always very coachable. If he makes the adjustments and works hard to implement he will be a solid player in the future. He is a pleasure to coach.

12/27/2011 - Vero Beach Christmas Camp and Tournament Antonio continues to show as a solid middle infielder. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, showing a short/quick/loose arm action and he is accurate and consistent with his throws. As usual, he displays soft and sure hands, quick and active feet, and has an athletic and square fielding position which helps him exhibit good range. As he matures Antonio should continue to be a very solid fielder. At the plate he shows an athletic and square setup, with smooth hands, and a short and square stride. He has good balance allowing him to makes square contact. His swing path is on plane which results in good timing and a smooth rhythm. He needs to be more aggressive with his lower half on finish and let the ball travel into the hitting zone. "Sal" is showing good improvement, he is starting to gain more strength and the fundamentals are becoming extremely consistent and repeatable. He is also maturing, not showing quite as much emotion and maintaining a more level approach whether things are going good or going bad. As Antonio continues to mature he will be a player to watch.

11/10/2011 - Arizona Fall Select Training - 2011 (Pre HS) Antonio is a 2016 graduate who plays short stop and 2nd base. In the infield, Antonio throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a loose and quick arm action. His throws are very consistent and accurate. In the infield, he has soft hands and a quick exchange. His footwork is active and he has an athletic fielding position. He has agile range with quick feeds and pivots. He is very aggressive to the ball but we would like to see him have more control with his approach. Overall, his defense continues to be a strength for him. At the plate, Antonio showed us a lot of improvement since we first saw him earlier in the year. He has an athletic setup, nice load, short stride, and centered balance. He uses his lower half and has decent bat speed. He makes consistent contact and is able to spray the ball to all fields. His timing is fluid and he has nice rhythm as he pieces his swing together. At the plate, and in the field, his mechanics are very strong and he is one of the more fundamentally sound players for his age. Antonio is a great kid and has a bright future as he continues to mature and get stronger.

07/19/2011 - Cape Cod Pro Select Training - July 19-23, 2011 (Ages 12-13) Antonio is a 2016 graduate who can play SS. As an infielder, he has clean hands while showing consistency with his throws. He follows his throws well and shows active footwork and control. His fielding position is athletic/low and his range is playable. He also has accurate feeds and overall he continues to show good fundamentals. He can be more aggressive in his overall approach. At the plate, Antonio makes hard/consistent contact, showing a swing path that is on plane. He sprays the ball well and has a fluid and smooth rhythm. His lower half gets through, balance is centered, and he has hands back. He will benefit by having a stronger front leg in his stance but we like his overall mechanics. Antonio continues to show good baseball instincts. Trusting his ability and being more consistent are areas he can continue to work on.

06/24/2011 - Maryland Select Training Antonio did a nice job at the Maryland Training event. He is a little undersized at the moment but shows great fundamentals in everything he does. In the infield, he shows an athletic setup, sure hands, quick feet and good agility. He will need to strengthen his arm through long toss, but his arm still works at his position. At the plate he has an athletic/balanced setup and stance. His stride is centered, balance is strong, and he has a smooth load. Antonio is on time, he has a level swing, and hits a lot of line drives. Gaining strength will help him to become a more effective hitter in the future, but that will come in time. Antonio has the work ethic and desire to be a very good player, as he is currently a solid player for his age.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
