11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Ashton is a hard working 2B/RHP prospect and made several adjustments over the weekend at Pirate City. At 2B, Ashton makes the routine play and has a clean exchange. He plays through the backhand and makes good feeds on DP's. Presenting a low early/glove will allow him to be on time and work from the ground up. Continuing to work on his agilities will allow him to increase his range off the bag. At the plate, Ashton has an athletic stance, and strides on time. He does a good job of staying on plane with the barrel and has a middle approach. Attacking the inside part of the ball, and using the lower half will increase his bat speed and get him to drive the ball to all fields. On the Bump, Ashton stays balanced over the rubber, separates on time, and throws down hill. He was very aggressive in the strike and tried to attack the inside part of the plate on several hitters. Continuing to finish over the front side, and shorten his arm stroke will allow him to command the lower part of the strike zone. Ashton will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
