11/03/2019 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Ashton is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect. In the OF, Ashton is on time with his prep step and has a quick first step to the ball. He creates good angles, attacks ground balls, and puts himself in a good throwing position by working behind fly balls. At the plate, Ashton starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back into the launch position. He creates backside drive with his lower half, he has quick hands, and looks to hit the ball to all fields. On the bump, Ashton gathers over the rubber, he finds a balance point, and leads with his hip. He stays directional and throws his fastball down in the zone. He stays in line toward the plate and shows good depth on his changeup. Ashton will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
