08/17/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Columbus, OH Ashton is a lean OF who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls more and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Ashton has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
