01/26/2020 - College PREP - Mont Belvieu (Houston), TX Reid is a solid, strong C/RHP who has a tremendous future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (92 mph velocity) with impressive pop times of 2.00. Offensively, he continues to shine with outstanding hitting / power potential through a squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (86 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 83-85 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp downward break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger and shows a plus feel for pitch with sinking action. Off speed pitches show as an outstanding pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Reid has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
