Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Allmendinger showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Dallas, TX but did show as a 3B for the first time. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level where he has an upside. Fastball showed a range of 82-86 mph with solid arm side run. He throws 2 quality off speed pitches that will get outs at the next level. Command / control are a plus as he attacks hitters, working to get ahead, and changes speeds effectively. At 3B, his feet are active as he works to keep balls in front and makes the routine plays. He needs to play through balls more while presenting his hands more out front to improve defensive grades. At the plate, Austin showed a solid open setup with a loose grip. He loads well with his hands attacking the baseball. His swing path gets long as he needs to work to keep his hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and continue to improve hitting grades. Power numbers will continue to rise as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 3 for 6.

12/04/2011 - College PREP - Cedar Hill, TX Austin is a tall and solid RHP who has a pitchers frame. On the mound, he throws 4 different pitches from a 3/4 arm slot. His FB has slight downward movement, is thrown for strikes, and ranges from 81-87 mph. He keeps the ball down in the zone and has a nice, loose arm action. He gets smooth, on-time separation and has good rhythm. He keeps his shoulders level and stays in-line to his target. If he can use his lower 1/2 to drive off the mound and create extension on his follow thru, mound effectiveness can improve. At the plate, Austin displays a tall and open setup, solid load and short stride. He has fast bat speed and pop to the pull side. He makes consistent contact and is a line-drive type hitter. If he can avoid dropping his hands and spinning off the ball, hitting abilities can improve. Austin is a solid player and should get looks to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
