Official Scouting Report

11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind but needs to play through, creating momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 65-70 mph with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and develops off speed pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

10/10/2021 - All-In Membership - Bowie, MD Austin is an OF prospect who will graduate in 2024. In the field, Austin shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields in a square position and has a clean exchange, making on-line throws to his target. Presenting his glove out in front of his body can help Austin field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance with center balance. He gets back into his load and works through a level swing, driving the ball to his pull side. Austin can barrel up more baseballs by being more controlled getting into his load. With three more years to develop, Austin has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
