12/02/2012 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Austin is a two way player with a great pitchers body. On the mound, he throws three pitches for strikes, with his fastball hitting 79 MPH with heavy run/cut. His curve-ball has 2/8 shape and sat at the same velocity as his change-up, 65-68 MPH. He has a repeatable delivery, gets to a controlled balance point, hits spots on both sides of the plate and changes speeds well. When Austin learns to utilize his lower half and finish more completely his control and velo will show great increases. In the outfield, he plays through well with sure hands and a consistent exchange. Being more aggressive with his first step and playing lower in his fielding position will help him defensively. At the dish, he has a tall/open setup, generates fast bat speed, shows good leverage, and makes hard/square contact. Austin needs to stay extended through contact, work on being more on-time, and utilize the entire field. In all, the 2014 graduate is very athletic and has an ability to play both positions at a high level.
