Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

02/18/2018 - College PREP - Tyler, TX Austin is a tall, athletic RHP prospect with a projectable frame and feel for pitching. His arm is live and quick, leading to good stuff and a variety of pitches to get hitters out. He is a strike thrower on the mound with good presence to dictate at bats. His lower half is strong and he drives through it to work downhill towards the plate. He features a fastball up to 81mph, a late breaking 11-5 curve and a deceptive changeup at 70mph. As he fills out and gets stronger, he will unlock more velocity. At the plate, he shows fluid actions with good balance throughout his swing. His strong lower half generates bat speed on a direct path to make consistent, solid contact. Austin is a well-rounded prospect with lots of potential on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
