05/08/2016 - College PREP - Lakewood (Denver), CO Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball tools with a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as well, displaying smooth / fluid actions. He works to get around balls and moves well laterally, flashing range. Hands are soft / clean as he presents on time. He shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller play. At the plate he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (93 exit velocity) and work through a level / aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. The baseball comes off his bat a little differently. Austin has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Austin continues to show well on the diamond. Offensively, this strong righty has fluid rhythm to load and gets back into a loaded position. Bat speed is present as he whips the barrel through the zone and squares it up consistently. He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays the gaps. At 3B - Austin works from right to left through the GB. He funnels smoothly and has the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. Austin is a very talented 3B prospect who can make things happen both offensively & defensively.

10/04/2015 - College PREP - Parker (Denver), CO Austin continues to impress with his baseball abilities. Defensively, this athlete works fluidly into a low/square fielding position, presents his glove and funnels smoothly. Lateral quickness is a plus as he makes the backhand play with ease. Release is quick with strong throws on a line across the diamond. As a hitter - Austin steps into the box with a purpose. Swing is quick as he takes a hack, connecting with authority. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he sprays it to all parts of the field (exit velocity - 92 mph). A very talented prospect - Austin will play at a high level.

07/22/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Austin is an athletic R/R MIF who has a strong build (5'11"/175). At the plate, he has good balance with rhythm in his hands. He whips the barrel through the zone with speed and squares it up consistently. He has the ability to drive the ball the other way with pop. In the MIF, footwork is quick and actions are smooth as he fluidly works around the GB - right to left. He has plus lateral range, can make the tough backhand play and fires missiles accurately to 1B. He is versatile enough to put at any spot in the infield which helps his stock that much more. Austin is a hard worker who brings his all to the field every day. He is a talented player who will make an impact every time that he steps onto the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
