10/16/2013 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Austin is a solid, athletic 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level where he has a big upside but has potential at 3B. Delivery is solid, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 76-80 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Off speed pitches are outstanding and will get outs at the next level. Command / control are outstanding as well as he throws strikes with all his pitches to both sides of the plate and changes speeds well. He had 2 quality innings at the event. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up, moves well to glove side, and displays soft / clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks ground balls, plays through and presents hands more out front. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying outstanding power, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with a 2B and several hard hit balls. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.
