06/20/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Austin made great strides in his game during his time in Omaha. Foot speed has improved as he now runs his 60 yard dash in 7.02. He is an above average outfielder, with solid actions that begin with his active footwork and solid route running, which allows him to track down the fly-ball. He gathers well, gains ground and has a clean exchange to throw (78 mph). Offensively, Dulany shows a balanced setup with a solid base. Swing is level/repeatable as he connects and drives the ball on a line. Working to swing on a shorter/more direct path will result in increased pop at the plate. He battles at the plate and barrels the ball up consistently. Austin has really improved his athleticism over the last year or so, and his nearly 9 foot broad jump speaks to that. Austin is a hard worker and loves the game. He has a solid skill-set that will provide success on the diamond, and he will make a great addition to a college program next year.

03/22/2015 - National Tryout - Bowie, MD Austin continues to work hard on his game. With the bat, this righty shows an open stance as he strides into the pitch. He has smooth rhythm, gets loaded and waits for his pitch. Swing is level as he connects and drives the ball up the middle of the field. Creating extension through contact will allow for more power. In the OF, Austin has active footwork covering some ground. Foot speed continues to improve as he ran his lowest 60 time to date (7.33). At 2B, he works around the GB and has soft hands to gather smoothly. A clean exchange and quick release result in accurate throws across the diamond. Austin has tools that will provide some success on the diamond.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Austin showed hard work and the drive to get better during his time in Pirate City. In the OF, Austin has sure hands, good body control to the ball, and he fields out in front. He has a solid set-up, works behind the ball well, and throws with some accuracy to his target. Offensively, Austin has a balanced set-up, a fluid swing, and he can hit to the opposite field well. He has some bat speed and finds the barrel of the bat.

07/22/2014 - College PREP - Washington DC, MD Austin is a tall and athletic two way player (OF/IF) with room to fill out. In the OF, Austin has good actions to the ball, sure hands, and he makes the routine plays. He fields out front, gains momentum towards his target, and throws accurately to his cutoff man. Continuing to quicken his feet, playing more through the ball, and adding arm strength will improve outfield numbers. At 2B, Austin has a good setup, solid body control, and he plays through the ball well. His exchange is clean, and his arm action is smooth to his target. Austin will need to work to play more low to high, and field further out in front to improve INF skills. At the plate, Austin has a square setup, good barrel accuracy, and a level swing. He has good timing, stays centered, and he uses his lower body. Added bat speed and stronger wrists can help improve hitting.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
