12/29/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Austin continues to show as a two-way prospect in the OF and on the mound. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (91 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (91 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power driving to all parts of the field. Lower half works well through the swing with ball exploding off the bat when centered. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 83 mph. Fastball shows good life. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with sharp break. Off speed stuff show potential as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

09/29/2021 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Austin is an athletic OF/LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (91 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (86 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power driving to all parts of the field. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Fastball showed a range of 77-81 mph with tailing. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. Austin has a tremendous upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches.

In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind, playing through with momentum to his target. He reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Throws are accurate with carry (88 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression as he connects with power (91 mph exit velocity) driving to all parts of the field. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 77-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Slider is harder with tight spin and 2/8 shape. 02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he tracks proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with on line carry (89 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/22/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Austin continues to shows as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.31 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally and reads balls well off the bat, displaying range. Throws are accurate with on line carry (85 mph exit velocity) to his target. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft sure and presents well out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential are now excellent through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (91 exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/23/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frederick, MD Austin is an athletic OF/LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Austin shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud line drives. On the mound, Austin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Austin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 64-65mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 60-62mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Austin is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

03/08/2020 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Austin is a 3 way prospect who showing at 1B for the first time at the event. He continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry to the cut off. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he consistently showed the abilities to pick balls out of the dirt. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he throws from multiple arm slots, showing high ¾ and side arm slots. Fastball showed a range of 66-70 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Changeup shows sinking action but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch to hitters. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Austin is an athletic and strong 2022 2-way prospect. In the OF, Austin is on time with his prep step, he has a good first step to the ball, and creates good angles. He plays through ground balls, he works behind fly balls, and makes accurate throws with backspin. At the plate, Austin starts in a closed stance, he has a simple load, and hits off a firm front side. He has fluid rotation with his core and he looks to drive the ball to the opposite side of the field. On the bump, Austin gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a lose arm action. He throws his fastball on both sides of the plate, he has some feel for the changeup, and gets on top of his curveball. Austin continues to improve and we hope to see him continue his progress.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Austin continues to shine on the baseball diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip (80 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-72 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/01/2019 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Austin improved radar velocity to 79 MPH, exit velocity to 78 MPH, and showed well at both positions during his last workout with The Factory. In the OF, Austin has active feet, he reads the ball well off the bat, and tracks to his glove. He fields low, plays through, and throws with accuracy and consistency from a loose arm to his cut off man. On the mound, Austin keeps his eyes on target, he works well to his balance point, and he gets good front arm extension. He mixes his pitches well and competes in the zone. Offensively, Austin has a tall/open stance, good balance, and he makes consistent contact. He has a smooth swing, finds the barrel consistently, and works the ball well the opposite way.

07/29/2019 - College PREP - York, PA Austin is a young and athletic LHP/OF that will graduate in 2022. In the OF Austin shows active footwork with range to cover the gaps to make the routine play. He presents his hands well with a clean exchange as he creates momentum to the infield. Improving his foot speed will increase Austin's range in the outfield. Hitting he sets up square and gets a short stride and keeps his weight centered. Austin gets his lower half through as he gets the barrel on plane, showing the ability to hit the ball to all fields. Working to stay up the middle will improve Austin's barrel contact. Austin has several years to develop, and we look forward to seeing his progress.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Austin is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect with a great attitude. At 1B, Austin is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and has good hands. He works off the bag well, has good footwork on double plays, and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Austin has a middle approach and is aggressive on the fastball. He starts in a tall and closed stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position, attacks the inside part of the ball, and hits the ball to all fields. On the bump, Austin shows good presence and competes. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and rides his backside toward the plate. He throws all three pitches for strikes and commands his fastball in on batters. Austin plays with high energy and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works to square ball up and makes the routine plays. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 67 mph. Fastball showed a range of 66-67 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He throws a slider that is slightly harder but resembles breaking ball. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Austin showed well at his last workout in Philadelphia. He projects nicely as a 2-way player. He has good skills in the INF, fluid footwork, and soft hands. Austin moves well to the ball, fields in a low position, and throws with accuracy and carry to his target. On the mound, Austin has a clean/effortless arm action, a good CB, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. At the plate, Austin has a square set-up, good balance, and quick hands. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/consistent contact, and hits hard to the pull side. Austin can improve with work on the following.

On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 61 mph. Fastball showed a range of 58-61 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 4 years to further develop, Austin has the makings of a special type player with time and room to continue to progress his game.

03/26/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Ashburn (DC), VA Austin is a 2-way player at OF/LHP. In the OF, he takes aggressive routes as he tracks down fly balls. He gets behind the ball and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the hill, this lefty keeps his eyes on target and delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot. He stays balanced throughout his delivery as he works in line towards home plate. Offensively, Austin has a smooth rhythm to load. He creates consistent contact and drives pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
