01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Austin is a talented 3B prospect who has an above average skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Austin has a tall, relaxed setup with high hands. He has a small load with on-time rhythm and a short stride. Austin shows explosive bat speed with a smooth swing path. He rotates his core and has good strength behind his barrel. Austin has the ability to drive the ball to the pull side with power. At the hot corner, Austin plays with effective angles covering good ground. He fields the ball in a square position with deep hands. Austin has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate across the diamond. Overall, Austin has all the tools to make an impact at the next level.

10/17/2018 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Austin is a strong and athletic 2020 2B prospect that worked hard at the Junior Fall Classic. At 2B, Austin is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and plays through the ball. He has a clean exchange, a quick release, and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Austin starts in a squared stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He hits off a firm front side, and has good barrel control. He had several quality AB's and looks to do damage early in the count. Austin will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/17/2018 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX This athletic RHH SS shows a bright future on the diamond with the makings of a special type player at the next level. Offensively, he has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage - resulting in a barrel explosion (92 mph exit velocity) with the ball coming off well of his barrel. Defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with zip (84 mph velocity) across the diamond. With 2 years to further develop, Austin has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
