Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

11/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Sanford (Orlando), FL Austin is an athletic 2B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around and plays through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness (7.19 60 time) in covering a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, FB ranges from 75-79 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Austin has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
