Official Scouting Report

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and have a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / clean and but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

09/01/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Austin is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. In the field, Austin gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He makes consistent contact and sprays to all fields. On the mound, Austin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes with a controlled landing. Austin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 56mph. Breaking ball sits from 46-48mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 50-52mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

1. Footwork
2. Lateral range
3. Long toss

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
