12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic
Austin is a respectful young man with a high baseball IQ. As an outfielder he showed a good first step, sure hands, and has carry on his throws. Lateral quickness and continuing to polish skills are areas for improvement. At the plate Austin has good plate discipline, timing, and showed gap to gap power. He needs to keep his weight centered, develop better stride/load and allow the ball to travel into the proper hitting zone. Austin is a very coachable player who makes good adjustments. If he continues to work hard he can be a very good player in the future.

Austin is a tall, thin, 2-way player who plays OF and 3B. In the OF, Austin gets in a good, athletic position, he has a solid 1st step, and he reads the ball off the bat well. He makes plays and throws with a long arm action to his target. In the INF, Austin has playable hands and feet, and he moves well to the ball. He keeps it in front, his exchange is clean, and he throws with decent accuracy to his target. Offensively, Austin has an upright set-up, he tracks the ball well, and he keeps his hands back. He works the middle of the field and makes consistent contact. Abilities can improve with work on the following.
