07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.06. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy to his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He communicates well behind the plate and shows good leadership traits. At the plate, he shows an open setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Swing path is level and he makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball shows a range of 74-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.
