01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Austin performed well at his most recent Baseball Factory outing, with a sure glove and compact left handed stroke. Defensively, he had quick feet to get into a strong position to field with a soft/sure glove. He had rhythm and smooth actions to make plays and threw with accuracy to his targets. At the plate, he worked with good balance to get ready to hit and was loose through the zone. He used his hands and hips together to help boost bat speed and he hit an impressive 88 mph with his exit velocity. In all - Austin continues to show an upward trend of growth and still has two years of high school ball left before he steps foot on a college campus in the fall of 2017.

06/29/2015 - College PREP - Amelia (Cincinnati), OH Austin continues to shine on the diamond. With the bat, this LHH shows an aggressive approach stepping into the box with a purpose. Swing is quick to and through the zone as he engages his lower 1/2 and drives the ball to all parts of the field. At SS, Austin shows quick footwork moving well on the balls of his feet. He plays through the ball smoothly and has a quick/clean exchange to throw. This 2017 grad has a very bright future and has skills that will provide success on the diamond in years to come.

02/23/2014 - National Tryout - Dayton, OH Austin continues to develop in his game. At SS, he shows good prep and works into a square fielding position. He tracks the ball into his mitt, fields in cleanly, and works in-line toward 1B. Continuing to develop his arm strength will aid in his INF play. At the plate, this LH swinger shows a balanced setup with good rhythm. He squares the ball up and hits line-drives. Increased power will come with more lower 1/2 drive. Only a 2017 grad - Harper is a hard worker who has a lot of time and will only continue to improve.

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Austin continues to show his abilities playing the shortstop position. He has soft/sure hands, quick and fluid footwork, and fields from an athletic position. He gains ground and follows his throws with a loose arm action. At the plate, Austin has a nice set up with good balance. He was able to square the baseball up well during camp and continues to showcase a consistent approach at the plate. He is a gap to gap hitter that will only get better with age. Would like to see him work on keeping his hands inside the ball to have the total package at the plate. Austin plays the game the right way. He hustled on and off the field and showed great leadership skills.

02/24/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Dayton, OH Austin is an athletic SS who bats from the left side. Defensively, Austin has soft / sure hands, active feet, and he fields athletically. He plays through, gets rid of the ball quickly, and he throws with a short / loose arm with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Austin has a square set-up, a short stride, and fast bat speed. He makes solid contact, he can spray to all fields, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Long toss
2. Play more through
Offense
1. Avoid lunging
2. Let ball travel

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
