02/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Parker , CO Austin continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt, tracks ball well and sticks pitches in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.18 with accuracy / carry (81 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine, now displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight front the backside into a firm front side.

10/04/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Parker (Denver), CO Austin continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range Is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

02/23/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Parker (Denver), CO Austin improved his foot speed at the event as he is now a well above average runner at 7.07. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally. Throws are accurate, flashing carry across the diamond but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Austin is an athletic 2023 SS prospect that was eager to learn and worked hard all weekend. At SS, Austin is on time with his prep step, he moves well to the ball, and works from the ground up. He shows good arm strength from the hole, throws from multiple arm angles, and makes accurate throws. He needs to continue to improve his first step to the ball and improve his footwork on double plays. At the plate, Austin starts in an athletic stance, has rhythm in his hands, and gets his front foot down on time. He gets the barrel on plane to the ball, rotates his core, and looks to drive the ball gap to gap. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball, keep his head down at contact, and create backside rotation with his lower half. Austin will continue to build arm strength through a long toss program and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/07/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Parker (Denver), CO Austin is a lean, athletic, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Austin has active feet, he fields in a square position, and attacks aggressively. He sets his feet, his exchange is clean, and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. On the mound, Austin has a simple delivery, he gets good extension on his pitches, and finishes in a complete position. Offensively, Austin has a square set-up, good balance, and he makes level/consistent contact. He repeats his swing and uses his lower body. Austin can further improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
