  • OF/SSPosition Projection

02/18/2024 - National Showcase - Fremont (San Jose), CA Austin is a talented 5 ft 10/140 OF/SS in the 2026 class. In the OF, he has active feet and likes to attack the baseball with controlled actions. He works hard to position himself behind the baseball and will work through it. Gains a low and athletic fielding position and the ball sticks to the glove. Redirects with quick actions and uses a 3 qtr slot to make accurate feeds back to the dirt. On the dirt, his feet work well with his body and he creates angles to the baseball. Sinks his hips and redirects in the middle of his body to obtain numerous arm angles based upon his defensive zone. At the plate, he shows quick hands (84 exit velo) and demonstrates hard contact. Shows a line drive approach and establishes a strong finish. Overall, Austin is a player to watch in the 2026 class.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Austin is an impressive SS in the 2026 class. His glove is excellent and he shows natural ability to play the position. As Austin continues to grow, you will see his foot speed and arm strength catch up to his glove through development. Overall the baseline is great and the make-up is filled with the qualities you want in a SS at the next level. At the plate he has a quiet stance with a good approach. As he gains strength and matures his short and direct bat path will lead to more power. Overall the mechanics are solid and with 5 years to develop Austin has time to really excel and grow into a solid prospect.

11/14/2021 - All-In Membership - San Jose, CA Austin continues to show improvements in all his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/12/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - San Jose, CA Austin is a young, R/R SS who graduates in 2026. Defensively, he has active pre-pitch footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He moves well laterally, tracks the ball into his mitt and gathers well with a clean transfer to throw. At the plate, this righty shows a balanced setup with smooth rhythm to load. He takes a hack and sprays the ball to all parts of the field. Swinging on a more level path while creating more extension through contact will help to increase hard contact consistency. Only a 2026 grad - Austin has skills with still a ton of time to develop and physically mature.

12/08/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Martinez, CA Austin worked out at SS and in the OF during his last workout with The Factory. In the INF, Austin has active feet, he presents his glove well, and fields out in front of his body. He centers well, makes plays, and throws with a loose arm across the diamond. In the OF, Austin has efficient footwork and he fields athletically. He plays through well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency and momentum to his cut off man. Offensively, this RHH has a crouched stance, he loads his hands well, and he stands in with balance. He works the ball to the opposite field and hits line drives. Overall abilities can continue to improve with work on the following.

1. Looser actions
2. Accuracy

1. Lower body
2. Routes/angles
Offense

07/05/2019 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Austin is a young SS/RHP that showed good abilities at the plate and in the field. At SS Austin showed effective footwork taking good angles and fielded the ball out front. He fields with confidence and soft hands making clean exchanges. At the plate his setup was square and athletic with a short stride. His rhythm was controlled, rotating on a firm front with a short and compact swing. Austin showed plus barrel control with good hip/hand separation. He showed the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Austin showed the ability to hit higher velos and was a heads-up runner on the bases. We look forward to seeing Austin's progress.

03/17/2019 - Interactive Video Program - San Francisco, CA Austin is a lean, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Austin has efficient footwork, he presents his glove well, and he covers ground. He has a good 1st step to the ball, fields aggressively, and he can throw from multiple arm slots to his target. On the mound, Austin has a clean arm circle, he separates on time, and he tucks his glove properly. He uses his lower body, has a controlled landing toward home plate, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Austin has a crouched set-up, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He has good balance, an aggressive swing, and gets solid extension through the ball. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
