11/18/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Fall Prospects Tournament (HS) Austin is a 2024 C who showcased his skills during the Fall Prospects Tournament. Behind the dish, Austin tracks pitches well and works with good direction towards second base. Presents a good target, with quiet actions, and has an athletic secondary stance. Made accurate throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 70mph and a best pop time of 2.45 seconds. Showed efficient footwork on his blocks and tries to center the baseball. At the plate, he hits from a tall and open stance with loose/comfortable hands. Has on-time rhythm to his swing and showed a short barrel path to ball. Showed good barrel control as he hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 75mph during BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Austin making huge strides on the baseball field.

04/03/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Charlottesville, VA Austin is an up-and-coming catcher in the 2024 class. Scouts are impressed with his arm strength and accuracy. Made throws that were consistently on the bag (2.28 pop). His transfers were clean and quick to produce a high ¾ arm slot. Receives well and has soft hands while maintaining the strike zone. At the plate, he looks athletic in his stance and loads his hands well. Stays between his feet and creates an barrel path that is in the zone. Pull side production was on display and when he allows the ball to travel, he will utilize the whole field. Overall, he is just scratching the surface of a promising career.

09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) Austin continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.40 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength. He shows a squared setup, tracks well, and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (HS) Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.38 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/24/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Ruther Glen (Richmond), VA Austin continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times showed in the 2.40 with accuracy to his target. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 2B, feet are active as he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.35 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. He shows a solid setup, sticks balls in the zone and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, is very coachable, and plays with high energy.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Austin is a coachable C/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Winter Classic. Behind the plate, Austin sits in well and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a two-handed exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to the 2B bag. He creates good angles when blocking and tucks his chin well. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Austin improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with comfortable hands. He gets his hands activated well and takes a level swing, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Austin can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Austin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He accelerates through his release and stays inline towards the plate, finishing square to his target. Austin shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 60mph. Changeup sits from 54-55mph with arm side run. Lengthening his arm action can help Austin improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Austin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/19/2019 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Austin is a C/2B that shows good aptitude on the diamond. At catcher, Austin sets up in his primary stance and presents his hands well receiving the ball with a firm glove. His secondary stance is square, gaining ground in his pop with a clean exchange. Working on arm strength will help Austin's throws to second. Blocking, he has quick feet creating good angles keeping the ball centered showing plus ability. At the plate, Austin sets up in an open stance working hard to get the barrel on plane. He shows the ability to hit the ball to all fields. Keeping his hands closer to his body will improve Austin's barrel consistency. Austin shows some good, raw tools behind the plate with several more years to develop.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Austin is a hardworking 2B/C prospect who has a versatile skill set. In the field, Austin plays with an aggressive approach and makes the routine plays. He fields the ball in a high position with deep hands. Austin has a long exchange leading into a restricted arm action. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and can benefit from playing through the baseball. Austin shows a good feed for double plays. As a right-handed hitter, Austin has a tall setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He has a load with a short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Austin has an upward swing path and is developing bat speed. He has a middle of the field approach and can spray the ball to all fields. Overall, Austin has a solid approach and potential to elevate his game with development.

07/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Washington, DC Austin is a thin 2-way player who catches and plays 2nd base. Behind the plate, Austin has active feet, soft hands, and he sits in low. He looks the ball in, blocks well, and gains some ground with accuracy to his target. At 2nd base, Austin moves well laterally, his feet play well, and he centers well on his body. He has firm hands and a loose/consistent arm to his target. At the plate, Austin has a good set-up, he tracks well, and can spray to all fields. He will need to work on the following for skills to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
