ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

09/18/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sanford (Orlando), FL Austin is a 1B/RHP in the 2025 class. On the mound, scouts love his tall athletic frame (60/173) and loose arm action. He works well down the hill and stays sideways to generate arm speed. His FB topped at 71 with more in the tank. His CB sat 61-2 with 12/6 shape and solid depth. His CH has good feel and tailing actions with FB arm speed. At 1B, he fields in an athletic position and creates solid angles. He works through the baseball and releases from a high slot. Feeds are accurate and on-line. At the plate, he proves to generate line drives to all parts of the field. He has a quiet head for proper ball tracking and stays centered in his balance. Uses a short and direct path and staying in his legs longer will create more force through the baseball. Overall, Austin is a two-way prospect with lots of potential.

07/17/2022 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (HS) Austin is a 2025 prospect out of Longwood, FL who is a 1B/RHP. The coaches really enjoyed Austin in Vero Beach. Dan Mooney who ran the event even commented that Austin was just a good kid and pleasure to have out there. They loved his body and how much upside he will have on the mound as he continues to work and add strength to his plus frame. With him being a 2025 grad, it will be exciting to see how big he gets and what follows. The scouts wanted to see some more explosion in his actions and some urgency. They think a strict stretching and agility program would really help him. Right now hes tall and lanky and needs to get control of his body. Overall, he did well for himself and continues to get better. We cant wait to see him in Sanford after he had some time to work on things he learned in Vero Beach.

04/10/2022 - All-In Membership - Sanford (Orlando), FL Austin is a RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. On the mound, Austin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Austin operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Breaking ball sits from 59-61mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 62-63mph. Long tossing can help Austin build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth to load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a direct swing with good extension, spraying the ball to all fields. Austin can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. Overall, Austin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
