07/31/2014 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown
Austin continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities. Defensively, he plays with a ton of energy and moves well laterally, flashing range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together but needs to present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. He gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he tracks the ball well and is a patient hitter. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will improve as he loads more and utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Austin is a coachable player that plays hard and has the work ethic to take skill set to next level.

Austin worked out at SS during his last workout in Louisville, KY. Defensively, Austin presents his glove out in front, he takes good angles to the ball, and he keeps it in front. He makes plays, works the double play well, and he throws with accuracy across the diamond. At the plate, Austin has good balance, he swings in good rhythm, and he makes consistent contact with the ball. He will need to square his feet up better, work on his load / stride, and use more lower 1/2 for hitting to get better.

Austin is a 3B who has a sure glove. Defensively, he presents his glove out in front and is ready for anything hit his way. He fields the ball out in front with soft hands and has a quick/clean exchange, making accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, this right-handed hitter displays good balance and an on-plane swing path. He squares up the ball and has some pull side pop. Utilizing more of his lower 1/2 will help to increase power at the plate. As a rising junior, Austin still has a couple of years to fine tune his skills.
