Official Scouting Report

07/08/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bradenton (Tampa), FL Parcels continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he works lightly on the balls of his feet and covers a ton of ground. He works behind and through the ball, gaining ground toward his target. Throws show zip/carry/accuracy to his target (88 mph). As a hitter, this righty shows a balanced setup with a solid base. Quick/loose hands whip the barrel to and through the zone with + bat speed as he connects with strength. The ball jumps when centered (exit velocity = 85 mph) with even more in the tank. This 2022 OF prospect has a ton of upside and is one to keep an eye on.

12/20/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.26 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line zip (84 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He has some strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with a 2B and 3B. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. He stands over the rubber well, is around the plate with all of his pitches. Fastball showed a range of 79-82 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/21/2019 - College PREP - Bradenton (Tampa), FL Austin is a lean OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.37 60 time. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a shirt / direct / level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Austin has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
