01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Austin is cementing himself as a game changer at the SS position. This Wichita State commit and 2019 grad continues to impress. A compact infielder, he has plus range and unreal hands. His glove works quick and he is one of the best to the backhand side that we had at the event. He turns double plays very well and works extremely well on the run. He mixes his arm slots so he can effectively make every type of play. At the plate, he works with a balanced approach, has very quick hands and drives the ball to all fields. Austin has great bat control and will be an asset to any lineup moving forward.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas This athletic, smooth fielding SS continues to shine on the diamond. Defensively, Austin has quick/active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He moves fluidly from right to left, plays through the ball and has a quick transfer/exchange to throw. At the plate, he gets his hands loaded with a strong bat angle. Swing is quick/compact through a level path as he barrels the ball up and drives it with pop. He is quick out of the box and down the 1B with speed. Once on base, he's a threat to steal with his foot speed. Only a 2019 grad, Austin will only continue to get stronger which will only unlock his potential on the diamond. Keep an eye on this SS!

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Austin's elite athleticism combined with his feel for the game makes him a can't miss prospect. His feel for hitting is very advanced for his age with a level path and line drive tendencies. His lower half works well to generate bat speed and his fluid swing results in lots of square contact with pop to the pull side. His rhythm and smooth actions make him a great defender with good range to the ball and quick hands to get rid of it. He is athletic to field in a low position with soft hands and moves through the ball to gain momentum and throw accurately to make plays at first. Austin will be an impact performer on many teams for years to come.

02/07/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Tomball (Houston), TX Austin continues to shine on the diamond. This versatile 2-way player can make things happen in a multitude of ways. At SS, he shows smooth/athletics actions working fluidly from right to left around the the GB. He funnels to a clean exchange and fires strong/accurate throws across the diamond. In the OF, Austin covers a ton of ground with speed. He works behind and through the ball, gaining ground toward his target. As a hitter- this righty has a balanced setup with centered balance. He swings on a short/direct path and squares the ball up, creating consistent/hard contact. Austin has a ton of upside and is one to surely keep an eye on over the next few years.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Austin is a talented athlete who showed well on the diamond during his time in Florida. With the bat, this righty stands in well with centered balance and fluid rhythm to load. He whips the barrel quickly to and through the zone, squaring it up consistently. He hits the ball where it's pitched with the ability to spray the entire field. Once on base this speedster is aggressive and is always looking to get into scoring position. At SS, Austin has active footwork and moves well right to left around the GB. He has soft/sure hands and funnels smoothly with strong throws across the diamond. He turns the DP efficiently with quick footwork and a clean transfer. Austin (2019 grad) will be a fun player to watch as he continues to physically mature and get stronger.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Austin is a coachable player who worked very hard on his skills during his time in Pirate City. He is willing to make adjustments to be the best player he can be. In the MIF, feet are active as he works around the GB into a square/athletic fielding position. He has smooth actions, funneling to a clean transfer/exchange and firing strong throws with carry across the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as he moves well laterally, displaying plus range. At the plate, he has a patient approach tracking pitches into the zone. He is aggressive and looks to jump on first pitch FB's. He squares the ball up and drives the middle of the field. Once on base he uses his speed to his advantage and isn't afraid to take the extra bag. A 2019 graduate, this young talent has a very bright future ahead of him in the game.

06/15/2015 - College PREP - Tomball (Houston), TX Austin is an athletic 2-way player who is a defensive specialist. At SS, he shows active prep footwork moving fluidly around the GB. He fields the ball out in front, gathers well and plays through the ball toward his target. In the OF, Austin is aggressive and can track down fly-balls in the gaps with speed (6.88 60 yard dash). He secures the ball and gains ground with an aggressive crow-hop toward his target. At the plate, this RHH shows a balanced setup with rhythm in his hands. He hits the ball where it's pitched, using the whole field. Only a 2019 grad - the future looks very bright for this young star.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
