02/07/2016 - College PREP - Tomball (Houston), TX Austin is a talented/athletic 2-way player (RHP/3B) who has a strong/projectable build (6'2"/185). On the mound, this righty throws an effective 3-pitch mix from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall balance point, has smooth actions and drives downhill toward the plate. FB shows arm-side run - cracking this mitt at 85 mph with life out of his hand. Curveball shows 11/5 shape with tight spin - showing to be a solid 'K' pitch. Changeup has sink and will get GB outs. At 3B - Austin actively works around the GB from right to left. He funnels smoothly, has a quick exchange and plays through the ball well working in-line toward his target. Offensively, this righty shows a square setup with rhythm to load. Quick hands whip the barrel on a direct path as he connects and hits line-drives back up the middle of the field. Austin is a solid 2-way prospect who will compete at a high level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
