07/12/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Manchester, NH Austin is a strong R/R catcher who can swing it. Offensively, this RHH displays an athletic/open stance with smooth rhythm to load. Quick hands whip the barrel with + bat speed as he connects with pop and drives the ball to the gaps. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic/quiet actions and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He is quick laterally and centers pitches in the dirt off of his chest. Throws to 2B are accurate - pop times remain in the low 2.2's. Sloan has a solid skill-set that will provide success as he enters his senior year.

07/23/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Rindge, NH Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.25 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he continues to build more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and receives the ball well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process centering balls well out front. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an open setup with balance. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Austin is a coachable C/RHP prospect who has a great work ethic. Offensively, Austin has an athletic stance with a centered balance. He is loose and comfortable at the plate. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and a square stride as his lower half leads his swing. Austin has an on-plane swing path and good pitch selection. He produces square contact and can drive the ball to each gap. Behind the plate, Austin works hard and is relatively quiet with his actions. He creates effective angles and receives the ball with a firm glove. Austin has a clean exchange and shows accurate throws down to 2B with good strength. On the mound, Austin has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a stiff arm action and cuts off his release. Austin lands open to home with the proper stride length. He does a nice job rotating towards his target and finishing ready to field his position. Overall, Austin is a versatile prospect who can advance his game with development.

10/07/2017 - FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (14-18) Austin is a RHP/C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, this righty comes to a balance point over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works in line towards the plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Austin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 60-61mph with 11-5 break. Changeup ranges from 63-66mph as he throws with fastball arm speed. Austin can improve as a pitcher by loosening his arm action. Behind the plate, Austin sets up in a good primary stance and shows good movement. Austin can improve as a C by receiving the ball with softer hands to his off glove side. With four more years to develop, Austin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the mound and behind the plate.

07/17/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Austin is a 2-way player (C/RHP) who has a strong/projectable build. With the bat, this RHH has an aggressive approach as he steps into the box looking to swing it. Hands are quick as he takes a hack, barreling the ball up consistently. Behind the dish, Austin sits in well and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He centers pitches in the dirt off of his chest, keeping it in front. Throws to 2B are on the bag coming from a clean exchange, with pop times at 2.50. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works tall and has smooth separation, driving downhill toward the dish. FB ranges from 60-62 mph while showing good run. Changeup has good depth and compliments his FB well. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
