09/17/2014 - Under Armour Fall Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Austin proved to be a solid asset to his team in his latest outing with Baseball Factory. He did a solid job at 1st baseball and in the OF. He made all of the routine plays and worked hard. He really showed a desire to improve all week. At 1st base he does good job of using two hands and working through the baseball. In the outfield he takes good routes on fly balls and solid angles on ground balls. He showed potential to be able excel in both areas as his foot speed and arm strength improve. Offensively, he displayed good rhythm in his hands and attacked the baseball. Working on developing a better load and hitting the ball to all fields will help take is game to the next level.

08/24/2014 - College PREP - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Austin has improved his baseball abilities, especially in the OF where he now displaying outstanding defensive abilities and arm strength. Feet are active / aggressive as he reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with his body. Throws are accurate on a downhill plane with on line carry. At 1B, he is aggressive and displays proper foot work around the bag. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more while presenting hands more out front. At the plate, hitting / power grades have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Taylor has tools that will get him looks from the collegiate coaches.

08/25/2013 - College PREP - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Austin is a 2015 OF/1B that performs best as a 1B. In the infield, he has decent hands and an accurate arm. He needs to increase his agility and be more aggressive to ground balls. In the outfield, however, he is aggressive in his approach, taking a decent first step and showing playable footwork. A long toss/throwing program is essential to his further development. Offensively, he has a level path and a spray approach. More lower half use, and a controlled load will allow for increased barrel accuracy. Overall - Taylor has a couple more years to hone his ability and become a good high school player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
