02/02/2020 - College PREP - Mobile, AL Austin is a SS/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills. In the field, Austin shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low, athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Overall, Austin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

12/01/2019 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Austin is a SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Austin shows fluid footwork and is agile attacking the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Staying low on backhand plays can help Austin improve defensively. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Austin can improve as a hitter by continuing to take reps from the left hand side. Overall, Austin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Austin is a compact, athletic SS prospect who will out work everybody and plays the game extremely hard. He can fly around the field with blazing speed (6.87 60 time) and shows range and the ability to steal bases. He shows quick twitch actions in the field and agility to cover lots of ground and make plays funneling the ball in. His hands are quick and clean and he gets rid of the ball on throws and feeds to make tough plays. At the dish, he has good pitch recognition to identify a good pitch to hit and use all fields. His swing is short and compact from a power position and he makes consistent contact with some pop to the pull side. Staying through the ball will lead to harder contact and more base hits. Austin is a tough, scrappy player that makes any team he's on better.

02/04/2018 - College PREP - Mobile, AL Austin is a hardworking infield prospect who graduates in 2020. As a right-handed hitter, Austin has an athletic, crouched stance with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a short, square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Austin has a short, direct swing path consistently landing the barrel to the baseball. He is a line drive type hitter who has the ability to use all fields. In the field, Austin plays with quick, active footwork and agile actions as he attacks the baseball with an aggressive approach. He presents his glove and fields the ball in an athletic position. Austin has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing consistently strong, accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Austin has a well-rounded skill set and potential to get even better.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
