12/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Sacramento, CA Austin is an athletic LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. On the mound, Austin keeps his eyes on target and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate. Austin operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 83mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 65-68mph with sharp 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 73-74mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and gets into his load well. He works through a level swing with fast bat speed and drives the ball with authority. Overall, Austin is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

06/21/2021 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Austin is a LHP that is in the graduation class of 2022. He shows off a tall frame and a physical body with additional room to grow. On the mound, he shows good presence and clean mechanics overall. He throws all 3 of his pitches from a high ¾ arm slot. His best pitch is his fastball that was thrown early in the count for strikes in the 77-80 MPH range. Showed feel for a 2-8 shaped breaking ball. Also flashed a changeup that was 71-73 and thrown with good arm speed. Showed a good ability to fill up the strike zone. Pitched a total of 8 innings including a 5 inning start where he struck out 12 while only allowing 2 hits and 1 run. Austin is a talented and physical prospect who should have the chance to compete at the next level.

05/31/2021 - All-In Membership - Sacramento, CA Austin continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 77-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Austin has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Austin is a tall OF/LHP prospect who showed well during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. In the field, Austin shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to strong contact to all fields. On the mound, Austin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, finishing square to the plate. Austin shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 64-68mph with 2-8 break. Overall, Austin is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Austin continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (86 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (82 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power driving the ball with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 79-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows 1/7 shape with sharp break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/17/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS) Austin continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate, this LHH shows an advanced approach through an athletic setup. He is fluid to load and works through a smooth swing path with plus bat speed, leading to consistent contact and great pull side power (89mph exit velo). In the field, Austin takes good angles tracking down fly balls and finishes plays well. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and makes accurate throws to his target. On the mound, Austin gathers over the rubber and is fluid separating his hands. He works with a clean arm and strides inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Austin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 64-65mph with sharp 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 70-73mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Austin is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Austin continues to show as a prospect at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the OF, he utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally, displaying range as he covers a ton of ground. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry on his throws. At the plate, he showed a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength (84 mph exit velocity) in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, he is controlled gathering to his balance point and works with quick arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80 mph with run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 68-69 mph with 2/8 break. Changeup sits from 73-74 mph with sinking action. Control is excellent as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches.

10/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Austin is an athletic 2-way player as a LHP/OF. In the OF Austin shows active footwork with agile range to the gaps. He fields the ball square presenting a solid glove with balls in the air and on the ground. His exchanges are quick and clean as he gets the ball to the infield with consistent, online throws. Working on playing through the ball more will help Austin improve as an outfielder. At the plate, Austin sets up in a square stance getting a short stride showing fluid rhythm and timing. He keeps his balance centered as he gets his lower half through creating explosive bat speed. He makes hard contact showing gap to gap power. On the mound, Austin shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and CH. The FB shows good AS run, the CB is 1-7 with good break, and the CH is deceptive with run and FB arm speed. He gathers over the rubber well separating on time with a loose arm action. He keeps his stride square and finishes his rotation to the target. Austin shows great upside to be a 2-way player that can make an impact at the next level.

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Austin improved his foot speed at the Recruiting Classic as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 5 with a 2B and 5 BB as he displace a good eye and patient approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-73 mph good tailing action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with arm side run. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters, working to get ahead. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a great teammate.

10/28/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Santa Rosa, CA Austin continues to show the makings of a special type player as he continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a plus feel for pitch with tailing action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works behind, playing through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity), working through a short / direct swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Austin is a coachable LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. On the mound, Austin shows a solid delivery as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm action and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Austin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball ranges from 57-60mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits at 60mph with arm side tail as he throws with fastball arm speed. Austin can improve as a pitcher by getting a higher leg kick. In the field, Austin show active footwork and is very agile ranging to the ball. He gets into and athletic position and field the ball in front of his body with soft hands. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Austin can improve defensively by taking a quicker first step. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives. With four more years to develop, Austin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Austin continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 59-65 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard to fastball velocity. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Austin is an athletic LHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls playing through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 63-66 mph with slight tailing action. Control is a plus as he attacks hitters throwing strikes and works to get ahead. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is outstanding as he has a positive attitude, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 5 years to further develop, Austin has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
