Official Scouting Report

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Avery is a 2024 3B/RHP prospect who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. On the mound, he gets a good rear hip coil, with a relaxed leg lift, and gets a good glove tuck on the frontside. Separates his hands on-time, with a clean arm stroke, and gets extended out front. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 75-77mph with some tailing action, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that flashes good depth, and a changeup he throws for strikes. In 2 innings of work, he struck out 3 batters and didn't walk anyone. In the field, he starts in an athletic position, with quick feet, and has smooth actions. Creates good fielding angles while fielding from an athletic/low fielding position with soft hands out front. He creates momentum to his target and his throws were accurate with an arm velocity up to 77mph. At the plate, this right-handed hitter hits from an upright and open stance. Has good timing and his centered at contact. Hit balls consistently to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 79mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we see Avery having a bright future on the baseball field.

09/26/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Visalia, CA Avery is an athletic 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing and he shows a feel for the barrel. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 72-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Avery has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
