12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Avery is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Under Armour Recruiting Classic. In the field, Avery makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Avery improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a crouched stance and rotates his core well, working to barrel up the baseball. Avery can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Avery starts with a simple rock step and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Avery shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Breaking ball sits from 57-60mph with 10-4 break. Remaining controlled getting to his balance point can help Avery improve as a pitcher. Overall, Avery is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

09/30/2018 - College PREP - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Avery is a tall RHP/1B prospect who will gradaute in 2021. On the mound, Avery shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 57-60mph with 11-5 break. Avery can improve as a pitcher by gathering to a balance point over the rubber. In the field, Avery makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. Avery can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and gets into his load well. He takes a level swing and produces solid line drives. Avery can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride. With three more years to develop, Avery has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
