08/03/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Avery continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 7.08. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved, now showing well above average skills. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Feet are aggressive as he works proper angles and plays through balls well. Glove action is soft / sure as he presents hands well out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 9 with 2 2B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-79 mph with cutting action. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.
