01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Avery is a MIF who is a top prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. In the MIF, he has plus lateral range (6.93 60 time) working from the ground up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws (82 mph velocity) zipping across the diamond. Avery has the makings of a special type player and will gets looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

10/17/2018 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Avery continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.16. In the MIF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. He attacks ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally, covering a lot of ground, and displays a solid backhand. Throws are accurate but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is very coachable as he works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Avery is an athletic SS who continued to show as a prospect at the UAAAPS Tournament. In the field, Avery shows a good prep step and takes good angles to the ball. He fields in a square position and has a clean exchange to throw, keeping his throws accurate and on-line across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He has a smooth rhythm in the box and maintains center balance. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives. Avery is a skilled prospect who has upside on the diamond.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament This athletic MIF continues to shine. Defensively, he has active prep and works fluidly on the balls of his feet. Hands are presented out in front as he funnels smoothly to a clean transfer. He works through the ball well and gains ground toward his target at 1B. With the bat, this righty has a patient approach with centered balance. He has a good eye for the zone and doesn't swing at much outside of it. Hands are quick as he hits the ball where it's pitched and drives the ball on a line. Avery is a talented MIF prospect who has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

07/24/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Avery is an athletic 2B who has a bright future in this game. At 2nd he works around the ball well, staying athletic and low to field, even featuring multiple arm slots to throw from. Offensively, he shows impressive pull side power, staying balanced in his swing and taking a direct route to the ball. Keeping his hands up to swing, starting with a good load positon will improve consistency of contact. Avery is an impressive prospect who doesn't graduate until 2020. Overall, Avery is a solid player with a bright future on the diamond.

09/06/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Kansas City, KS Avery continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Defensive abilities in the MIF have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and his moves well laterally. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he presents his glove well out front. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a balanced / squared setup. Hands are quick and work inside the ball as he utilizes all fields well. He shows a feel for the barrel with ball jumping off when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively through the swing. Williams has the makings of a special type player as he continues to develop.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Avery is a R/R MIF who has an athletic build. He works hard and showed well during his time at Pirate City. With the bat, this RHH has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He has quick hands and whips the barrel on a level path to and through the zone. More extension through contact will result in increased power. At 2B, he is active and hustles into position behind the GB. He makes the plays with soft/sure hands, gathers well and works in-line toward his target at 1B. Presenting his glove and fielding the ball more out in front will help to avoid getting the in-between hop. Only a 2020 grad - Williams has a solid skill-set with still a ton of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
